A colonial mansion named after 19th century State Premier, Sir Henry Ayers, Ayers House Museum illustrates Victorian domestic life as it was lived both upstairs and downstairs. Also on display is a collection of historic costume, silver, artwork and furniture. A property managed by the National Trust of South Australia, the house contains important decorative painted finishes on internal walls and ceilings.
The Bakehouse Theatre has two spaces - the Main Stage and the Studio Theatre. It is is home to three "resident" theatre companies (two professional, and one amateur). These residencies come up for renewal each year, with new applications being considered by its Artistic Director Pamela Munt. Both theatres are also available for hire. The Bakehouse particularly encourages and supports new arts graduates.
