Steph Fuller is a photographic visual artist. Her work takes the common and mundane and gives it new context. Much of her imagery borrows from a science fiction aesthetic.
Stephen Bowers exhibits in Australia and overseas. His work is widely collected and is represented in major public art galleries and museums, including the Museum of International Ceramic Art Denmark, the Australian National Gallery, the Los Angeles County Museum of Modern Art, the National Museum of History in Taipei, and the National Collection of Parliament House in Canberra.
Stephen is a performance maker with a diverse practice. He makes original work for theatres, public places and schools. His current work investigates the delicate performer/audience relationship in non-traditional settings. Stephen is particularly interested in the sense of immediacy present in work of this kind that requires a fine mix of structure and improvisation as well as an acute awareness of the ever-changing dynamic between the work and the audience.
Arguably the dominant driver for the so-called Hot Glass Studio Movement has been a focus on honing/displaying utilitarian blowing skills. My career-long focus (from 1966) has been more on cerebral and sculptural concerns, thus marginalising myself from the mainstream commercial or craft 'action'. Hence in my lecturing days (1976-1987) my glass outputs focused more on: temporary site-specific installations, contemporary-issue Playable Games and thirdly, spontaneous performances.
