Pocket Grants: Contemporary Music

Pocket Grants of up to $1000 are available to South Australian music businesses (that are representing South Australian based, professional artists) to assist with one-off eligible expenses that arise at short notice, i.e. within six weeks of submitting an application.

Arts South Australia will accept applications for Pocket Grants until the annual funding allocation is exhausted.

The applicant must:

  • Be a 'micro' or 'small to medium' music business with a proven track record of operating to further the contemporary music sector in South Australia
  • Be based in South Australia and working with South Australian artists composing and performing original music
  • Not be in receipt of Organisations Funding through Arts South Australia.

Applications for Pocket Grants will be assessed out of usual funding rounds by the Contemporary Music peer assessment panel according to the following criteria:

  • The opportunity that this 'career-defining' project presents to the applicant
  • Good planning and effective use of resources.

It is assumed that the artistic merit and quality of the applicant has already been determined as a result of the career-defining opportunity presenting itself.


You are encouraged to discuss your application with the relevant Arts South Australia project officer.

Eligible expenses include travel, conference or legal fees for unexpected opportunities.

Applications will be accepted via a completed application form submitted by email only.
