I consider myself to be a mixed media artist with particular emphasis on the practice of experimental mark making. Mediums such as acrylic, oils, inks, chalk pastels and charcoal are a reoccurring characteristic in my work. I believe in the practice of layering; the ways in which I layer my artwork relates to the ways in which one might layer one's own identity with multifaceted characteristics and experiences. Often we become too attached to our current state of being and similarly it is easy to become too attached to a particular mark in a drawing. Hence I try to accept the idea of transience; my work is ever changing and developing in correlation with my own existence. I build upon what is already there, adding to a history of marks but simultaneously changing the overall image; it grows, it blossoms and it gains depth, just like the human experience.
